Three weeks since losing their top player, Cameron Moeller, for the rest of the season because of health reasons, Live Oak has responded by winning its last four matches to place second in Mount Hamilton Division boys golf.

The Acorns have qualified for the May 2 Blossom Valley Athletic League Team Playoffs and will have at least four players at the BVAL Individual Championship.

They ended the regular season Wednesday with a 207-217 victory over Pioneer at Santa Teresa Golf Club. Marc Noble was medalist at 38; Michael and Matt Jarvis followed at 41 and 42, respectively, and Gordon Gunther won a pivotal bout in the No. 5 pairing 42-50 to help clinch the team triumph. Ben Hartl shot 44, also for Live Oak.
