Based on news that California gained an unexpected $6 billion in
revenue, are you optimistic the economy has turned the corner?
THIS WEEK’S QUESTION:
“Based on news that California gained an unexpected $6 billion in revenue, are you optimistic the economy has turned the corner?” Yes: 3 No: 6
-
Karen Anderson: “Somewhat. It is a slower corner, however, than many hoped for but a deeper financial crisis than most of us ever experienced. The long haul can be expected.”
-
Dave Appling: “Well, I am optimistic regarding the overall American economy. But we’re not even close to solving California’s financial crisis. There are two sides to every ledger, and our state and municipalities are in desperate need of revenues. Once upon a time the GOP was the party of fiscal responsibility: sadly, no longer.”
-
Bert Berson: “No. Let’s see the jobless numbers go way down and stay there. Any other measurements for the economy are at best stupid and at worst cruel.”
-
Chris Bryant: “No, still bad news and still further budget cuts. This just feels like a bounce at the bottom.”
-
Bob Chidester: “No.”
-
David Cohen: “I’m pleasantly surprised to see the revenue gain, but no I’m not optimistic because there are still many, many issues to be resolved on the budget. Resolve them in a reasonable manner that takes into account all the stakeholders and all points of view, then I will be optimistic.”
-
Julian Mancias: “Yes. From my vantage point of selling homes, it seems to me like we turned the corner several months ago.”
-
Henry Miller: “Yes. However, we never know what is just around the corner, do we?”
-
Jeff Smith: “Although an unexpected $6 billion is a good thing, I don’t think we’ve turned the corner yet. Besides, I think that instead of doing something practical like paying down the debt or lowering our taxes, Jerry will probably spend it and/or replenish the union pockets that got him elected.”Vote in
