High school boys wrestling will see an upward shift in weight classes beginning next season.

The wrestling rules committee for the National Federation of State High School Associations approved a change that results in new weights for 10 of the 14 classes. The new lowest weight is 106 pounds, up from 103. Only four weight classes remain unchanged: 145, 152, 160 and heavyweight (285).

The new-look lineup: 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 182, 195, 220 and heavyweight. The 140-pound weight class has been eliminated.

The last time a major weight change happened was in 1988 when the lowest weight (98) was bumped up to 103.
