The Independence Day weekend anti-DUI crackdown has resulted in

From 12:01 a.m. Friday through midnight Sunday, officers representing 15 county law enforcement agencies arrested 107 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In 2010, 72 DUI arrests occurred during the same 72-hour time period. These numbers are provisional as some agencies have yet to report, ac

No DUI related fatalities have been reported.

DUI arrest data collection will continue through midnight today. Law enforcement officials are continuing DUI efforts throughout the county and region.

For Monday July 4, extra DUI patrols will be deployed in the cities of Milpitas, Palo Alto, Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Altos Hills, and San Jose. Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Avoid programs, named for the number of police agencies in each county will also concentrate during the 18-Day August/Labor Day period.
