Morgan Hill – What better day than Aug. 2 to throw a block party so Morgan Hill police officers can stop by, introduce themselves and get to know the residents of the neighborhoods?
As part of a national program, local police and the Morgan Hill Community Law Enforcement Foundation will celebrate America’s Night Out Against Crime to promote neighborhood spirit, and police and community partnership.
If your neighborhood block is without a party, go to East 3rd Street near Monterey Road from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 2 for live music, free ice-cream compliments of BookSmart, games and prizes. Also, MHPD’s K9 unit and police dog Pax will attend. The S.W.A.T. will put on a special demonstration and have their vehicles on site.
National Night Out is designed to increase awareness of crime and drug prevention, generate support for anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnership, and organize neighborhoods to stand up to crime.
For more information on how to register a block party, go to www.morganhill.ca.gov and click on the event under “News Flash” on the main page. For more information about National Night Out, go to www.nationalnightout.org/nno.
