Fraud: A Jackson Oaks Drive resident reported someone wrote checks on her checking account. The report was taken at 3:42pm.
Auto burglary: A Ford Explorer parked at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center was broken into. A window was shattered, and a purse was stolen from the Explorer. The report was taken at 9:14pm.
Dec. 16
Child abuse: A mother reportedly threw a pumpkin at her 15-year-old in November. The report was taken at 7:06am.
Auto burglary: A Dougherty Avenue resident reported their Honda Civic was broken into. The passenger side window was broken, and a pair of earrings and “sensitive” documents were stolen from the Civic. The report was taken at 8:19am.
Auto burglary: A John Telfer Drive resident reported his Ford Expedition was broken into. A window was broken, and a camera, checks and other items were stolen from the Expedition. The report was taken at 8:45am.
Auto burglary: An Elaine Court resident reported his Jeep Grand Cherokee was broken into overnight. The passenger window was shattered, and a brand-new emergency medical box, valued at $100, was stolen. He told police that after talking to the neighbors, he learned that there is someone who tries to break into his Jeep on a regular basis. The report was taken at 10:05am.
Auto burglary: A Claremont Court resident reported someone broke into their vehicle overnight. The rear window was shattered, and a portable CD player and a case of CDs were stolen from the vehicle. The report was taken at 11:05am.
Battery: A Morgan Hill resident reported her daughter shoved her and hit her in the face during an argument. The report was taken at 3:33pm.
Dec. 17
Vandalism: A Woodland Acres resident reported someone shot a BB through a window of their home. The report was taken at 8:15am.
Stolen vehicle: A Toyota Camry was reported stolen from the Village Avante Apartment Homes overnight. The report was taken at 11:08am.
Dec. 18
Stolen vehicle: A GM truck was stolen from VM Ministries on Caputo Drive over the weekend. The report was taken at 8:21am.
Burglary: A Laurel Wood Lane reported she returned from five weeks’ vacation to discover diamonds were missing from her jewelry box. She told police her daughter was taking care of her home while she was gone, and there was a party during that time. The value of the loss is estimated to be $10,000-12,000. The report was taken at 8:31am.
Arrests:
A 17-year-old was cited and released for alleged petty theft. The report was taken on Dec. 9 at 5:58pm.
Gabriel P. Cabrera, 27, was cited and released on suspicion of being drunk in public. The report was taken 1am on Dec. 12.
Pedro S. Chajon, 39, was cited and released on suspicion of being drunk in public. The report was taken o Dec. 13 at 12:29pm.

Controlled substances
Kevin Michael Cooper, 25, of Morgan Hill, Nov. 13 at 9pm at the intersection of Vineyard Boulevard and Monterey Road, for being under the influence of controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphenalia.
Armando John Martinez, 26, of Morgan Hill, Nov. 13 at 9pm at the intersection of Vineyard Boulevard and Monterey Road, for being under the influence of controlled substances.
Theft
Mario Acosta, 26, and Efren Antonio Hernandez, 27, both of Hayward, Nov. 11 at 11:50pm on Uvas Road in San Martin, for possession of stolen property, petty theft with priors, and misdemeanor misappropriation of lost property. On a car stop, Sgt. Owens found 133 pieces of mail not belonging to Hernandez and Acosta. Sheriffs have contacted four victims.
Vehicle theft
Cesar Moreno Montoya, 20, of Church Street in Gilroy, Nov. 11 at 1:55pm at the intersection of Maple and Sixth streets in Gilroy, for vehicle theft. Montoya was driving a black 1986 Chevy Blazer SUV. A record check showed that the vehicle had been stolen from Hollister.
Possession of stolen property
Mario Santos Barrigan, 29, of Kern Avenue in Gilroy, Nov. 8 at 11:35pm at the intersection of No Name Uno and Buena Vista avenues in Gilroy, for possession of stolen property and driving without a valid license. Barrigan was driving a red 1991 Nissan Sentra, stolen from Santa Cruz on Nov. 2.

Viola Arreola, 42, of Sycamore Avenue in Morgan Hill, Nov. 7 at 8am, for owning and caring for fighting gamecocks.
n Jonnhy Verano Reylai, 49, of San Jose, Nov. 7 at 8am, for owning and caring for fighting gamecocks.
Rafael Robledo, 34, of San Jose, Nov. 7 at 8am, for owning and caring for fighting gamecocks.
Rene Rodriguez Vargas, 27, of San Jose, Nov. 7 at 8am, for owning and caring for fighting gamecocks.
Other Sheriff Incidents:
Identity theft/mail theft
An unknown suspect stole blank checks from a mailbox on Foothill Avenue in Gilroy, sometime between Oct. 11 and Oct. 30. Checks were forged and cashed at five local businesses. Two checks totaled $261.44, and the other amounts are unknown.
Vandalism
A mailbox was vandalized on Church Avenue in San Martin between 1pm Nov. 11 and 11:30am Nov. 12.
A mailbox was vandalized on Center Avenue in San Martin at 10pm on Nov. 9, causing $20 in damage.
A mailbox was vandalized near the intersection of Bannister Avenue and Duke Drive in Gilroy, between 8pm Nov. 9 and 8am Nov. 10.
Vehicle vandalism
A gray 2005 Honda Civic was vandalized between 6:30pm and 9:30pm Nov. 11. An unknown suspect smashed the driver’s side window, causing $400 in damage. Nothing was taken.
Vehicle theft
A white 1999 Ford F250 was stolen from San Ysidro Vineyards on Pacheco Pass Highway in Gilroy between 7pm Nov. 10 and 6am Nov. 11. Keys were left inside the vehicle.
A black 1995 Honda Civic was stolen between 1pm and 2pm Nov. 19 from Mushroom Farm on Hale Avenue in Morgan Hill. The vehicle was locked and sitting in the parking lot. A Be-On-the-Lookout warning was issued for the vehicle.
