One suspect resists arrest, is tased during bust
Morgan Hill – Two Morgan Hill residents were arrested Friday after a joint operation with the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team (UNET) led Morgan Hill police officers to the recovery of stolen property.
Selena Gonzalez, 26, and Salvador Perry, 27, were booked into Santa Clara County Jail on charges of alleged possession of a controlled substance for sales and alleged possession of stolen property.
According to Morgan Hill police Sgt. Dave Myers, UNET officers and Morgan Hill Police Department officers served a search warrant at a residence on Via Corfinio, off of Watsonville Road in west Morgan Hill, at 10:27am.
The search warrant was issued based on an investigation by UNET, Myers said.
“During the arrest, one suspect did resist officers, and a taser was used to help convince him to comply with officers,” Myers said.
Perry was medically cleared, as is the policy of MHPD, before being booked into jail. He was tased using a procedure known as a “drive stun,” which does not use probes but just contact with the gun itself to administer a charge.
Officers were not injured when Perry resisted, Myers added.
In the search of the residence, officers discovered items from a previous theft of a purse from a Morgan Hill resident.
While officers were busy in the residence, Myers said, someone in the neighborhood or someone who drive by the residence apparently shot something at one of the patrol cars parked on Via Corfinio, shattering a window.
“The window appeared to by shattered by a small projectile, like a BB or a pellet or something similar,” he said. The patrol car was unoccupied at the time, so there were no injuries.
