Live Oak had a good showing in the Willow Glen Jamboree last weekend, finishing 3-1-1.

The Acorns (2-0) lost the first game 1-0 to North Salinas after scoring an own goal off their sticks.

But then they defeated Corning 1-0, defeated Yuba City 1-0, tied Willow Glen 0-0 then defeated San Jose 2-1.

“It was not a real indication of what the team can do,” said coach Christy Musselmann. “We played only 15-minute halves. You can’t judge anything from that. Even though we beat some teams, we have no idea what they can do in a full game. We are really well conditioned, and we didn’t get a chance to take advantage of that. It is really who comes out and scores first. It was good experience. The girls got used to playing together as a team. ”

Live Oak defeated Homestead 2-0 on Wednesday with goals by Sarah Whitman and Rebecca Webb. Both goalies April Herrera and Janet Lee had nice saves. Kelly McDonald, Julie Jacobson, Raeland Ferry, Dayna Roth and Cami Tersini all played strong, Musselmann said.

Live Oak is playing a tough schedule this week, playing two A-level teams before opening up Blossom Valley Athletic League play Thursday at Cupertino. Live Oak played Mitty Monday and will play Los Gatos Wednesday. The Acorns play their first home game Sept. 22 against Los Altos.
