Troublesome trees
A Red Phone caller has issue with tree branches that have grown too low in downtown Morgan Hill.
“Hello, I was just calling regarding some low hanging tree branches that my wife and I have noticed walking on Monterey Road downtown in Morgan Hill and they’re on the intersection of 4th Street and Monterey. The tree branches are hanging on the west side of Monterey across from the Methodist Church and they’re so low you nearly have to duck under them or walk all the way around them.
I don’t know if it is the homeowner’s, who live there on the corner, responsibility to trim that or if the city helps out with that, but I’ve been reading on the Taste of Morgan Hill coming up and I know a lot of people will be walking on the streets there, so I was just calling to see if either the homeowner or the city could take care of that.”
Indeed the Taste of Morgan Hill is coming up…today in fact, but that’s not why you called. Red Phone called Anne Beale, Maintenance Supervisor of the city’s Public Works Department, about the annoying branches downtown. She promised to send someone out to look at the branches and have them trimmed if needed. The City has a company for trimming trees throughout the area and every tree within its boundaries is trimmed every three years, Beale said. If you have questions about trees that need to be trimmed, call the Public Works office at 776-7333.
