Darol L. White of Gilroy died April 7, 2005, in San Jose, after a short illness. He was 66.
He was born on July 28, 1938 in Scottsdale, Ariz. Mr. White was the oldest child of the first mayor of Scottsdale. He graduated from Scottsdale High School and moved to the Bay Area 35 years ago. He was a well-known breeder of German shepherd dogs and an acclaimed judge who traveled around the country for the American Kennel Club. Mr. White moved to Gilroy in 1977 and was very active in St. Mary’s Church as Eucharist minister, Lay-Carmelite and Saturday night usher. He was past-president of the Serra Club of Gilroy, a member of the Gilroy-Morgan Hill California Republican Assembly Treasurer and steering committee member of the Northern California Osage Indian Association.
He is the loving husband of Loretta White of Gilroy; dear father of Natalie Greenham (Mark) of Clovis, Charlene Kanak (Dave) of Reno, Nev., Connie Beck of Fresno; stepfather of Dawn Troncale (Tony) of Lodi and Dara Unterholzner (Steve) of Manteca; grandfather of Jason, Kenny, Joshua, Tina, John, Michael, Lia and Danny; brother of Marie A. Mastramico and Malcolm L. White of Tracy, Mary Keltner (Gary) and Janie White of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; and stepson of Lorraine White of Paradise Valley. He also is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins; and he leaves many friends including business partner, Rob Westphal of Modesto.
He was preceded in death by his mother Marie, father Malcolm, and sisters Susie and Malaine White.
Funeral Mass took place April 14, at St. Mary’s Church.
Services were under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy.
