In an incident with the flavor of the Old West, a San Martin man and his horse ran into a little trouble Thursday night, according to Morgan Hill Police Lt. Joe Sampson.

MHPD received a call at approximately 9:30pm from the Box Seat Bar and Grill about a customer who was “extremely drunk,” said Sampson. When officers arrived and talked to him, they determined he was intoxicated.

“When officers attempted to locate a family member or call a cab to take him home, he said he had a horse tied up behind the bar, and he did not want to leave it,” Sampson said. “He was adamant that he would not leave his horse, and officers arrested him.”

David Morton, 42, of San Martin, was arrested on suspicion of being intoxicated in public. He was cited and released.

Sampson said officers contacted family members in San Martin to pick up the horse.
