’s Gilroy home May 14, 2005 at the age of 67.

Rita F. Ruiz died peacefully at her daughter’s Gilroy home May 14, 2005 at the age of 67.

Mrs. Ruiz was born and raised in Hollister. She graduated from Hollister High School and moved to Gilroy and married her late husband, Oscar, in 1961. She worked off and on at Gentry’s, Olsen’s and Scientific Games in Gilroy. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church. She managed the old Guadalupe Apartments on Eigleberry Street for many years. She enjoyed gardening and being involved with her grandchildren’s activities. She loved going to the beach, barbecuing and having parties with her family.

She is the loving mother of Pamela J. Vilchis and her husband David of Gilroy, Oscar J. Ruiz Jr. of Los Banos and Cindy Casillas and her husband Val of Gilroy; grandmother of David Vilchis and his fiancée Kim Trujillo of Gilroy, Kimberly Vilchis and her fiancée Marcus Pena of Gilroy, Tabitha, Desirea and Felicia Vilchis, all of Gilroy, and Val Casillas III and Sergio Casillas, both of Gilroy; great-grandmother of Jasmine and Jade Vilchis and Mason Pena, all of Gilroy; sister of Dolores Acosta of Hollister, Geri Castro of Hollister, Marie Valdez of Gilroy, Josephine Areola of Gilroy, Joseph Twitchell of Indiana, Bob and Jack Mota of Modesto and Mac Mota of Hollister and the late Raymond Rodriguez and Joann Sendejas.

She also was preceded in death by husband, Oscar J. Ruiz Sr. (1986).

A Memorial Mass was May 19 at St. Mary’s Church, Gilroy, under direction of Habing Family Funeral Home.

Inurnment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gilroy.
