n An employee of Payless Shoes in Cochrane Plaza shopping centerreported someone stole her purse from the back room of the business.The report was taken at 10:04pm on April 30.
n A Morgan Hill resident reported a compressor was stolen from the back of the resident’s pickup while it was parked at Johnson Lumber on Tennant Avenue. The resident said while the pickup was parked at Marie Callendar’s at Sutter Boulevard and Cochrane Avenue, a skillsaw and toolbag were stolen from the back of the truck. The resident told police he suspects another customer at Johnson Lumber. The report was taken on May 2 at 10:49am.
n A Central High student reported the student’s cell phone was stolen from the student’s backpack. The report was taken at 2:02pm on May 2.
Battery:
n A resident of Del Monte Avenue reported his son was assaulting him due to an argument over a missing fax machine. The report was taken on May 1 at 12:14am.
Stolen vehicle:
n A resident of Crest Avenue reported his white Honda Accord was stolen, and another white Honda Accord was left at the residence. The vehicle that was left was stolen from San Jose, according to SJPD. The report was taken on May 1 at 10:38pm.
Threats:
n A resident of Bluebonnet Court reported she received harassing phone calls from a male suspect named Carlos who threatened her and her roommate. She told police the suspect told her he could see them in their window and was going to “get them.” She also told police the suspect had previously left messages on their answering machine. The resident told police she is elderly, and she and her roommate are concerned the suspect is nearby. She also said he may be threatening them because of the involvement of the suspect’s uncle in a bank robbery several months ago. The report was taken on April 30 at 5:57pm.
n A resident of Bluebonnet Court who called police the day before to report threatening phone calls reported she received more calls from the same suspect, who threatened to rape the resident and her roommate. The report was taken at 4:56pm on May 1.
SHERIFF’S OFFICE
Drugs:
n Someone left two plastic containers with chemicals associated with making methamphetamines on the side of a dirt road by Amistad Court and Church Avenue in San Martin between Jan. 1 and May 15, as reported at 4pm May 15.
Vandalism:
n A vandal cut the front left tire to a white 1989 Volkswagen van on Armsby Lane in Morgan Hill between 1:16-4:30pm. Damage was estimated at $100.
Arrests:
n Marilu Montano, 36, of 7551 Chestnut St. in Gilroy, was arrested and booked into the Main Jail by sheriff’s deputies at 1:25pm May 13 at Gavilan College, 5055 Santa Teresa Boulevard in Gilroy, for petty theft with prior convictions. A victim returned from swimming practice when she saw her locker open and Montano attempting to leave with her purse. The victim yelled and got the attention of a security guard who detained Montano until sheriff’s deputies arrived.
Theft:
n A thief broken into several vehicles at the Santa Clara County Water District on Church Avenue in San Martin between May 6 and 11, as reported at 6:50am May 11. The thief cut a chain link fence and stole tools from work trucks. A crow bar was booked into evidence.
n A thief entered a parking lot on Monterey Road in San Martin and removed three tires from one vehicle, and two tires and a stereo from an unlocked second vehicle, causing a damage of $650 to the first vehicle and $750 to the second, as reported at 10:20am May 10.
n A thief stole a toolbox worth about $650 from a resident’s open garage on Llagas Avenue in San Martin. An Echo chainsaw and Crossman air rifle, worth a total of about $170, were also taken from the property on March 15, as reported at 2:45pm May 11.
n A thief took a Morgan Hill victim’s Washington Mutual ATM card and made 9 unauthorized transaction totaling $1,355 between May 9 and 12, as reported at 11:20pm May 13.
Burglary:
n Burglars entered a residence at Harding and California avenues in San Martin between noon April 23 and 9pm April 24 and ate cookies, candy, drank sodas and caused $385 in damage to two closet doors. One latent print was located by sheriff’s deputies.
