This Saturday night’s program at Watsonville will also feature Winged Sprint Cars.

This is Barber’s second consecutive year in this class of racing.

In 2004, he earned the “Rookie of the Year” title in the United States Auto Club (USAC) Ford Focus Midget Series. This year Chase is in contention to win championships in both the dirt and pavement series of the Ford Focus Division.

Holloway headed to junior Worlds

Morgan Hill’s Daniel Holloway took back the orange jersey, awarded to the overall race leader, at the Tour de l’Abitibi in Quebec, Canada this week.

Holloway, 18, reportedly lost the overall lead at the international stage race for the world’s top junior cyclists earlier in the week but reclaimed it on Thursday.

Holloway, who rides for San Francisco-based Lombardi Sports Juniors Cycling, is competing for the U.S. National Team at the Tour event.

In addition, USA Cycling recently announced that, for the second straight year, Holloway will be part of the U.S. team for the UCI Junior World Championships, to be held Aug. 7-14 in Austria.

Holloway, who earned seven medals at the U.S. Junior Track Cycling Championships earlier this month in Pa., will compete in three track events at the world championships: the individual pursuit, scratch race, and Madison.

At last year’s junior track world championships, Holloway, also 18, competed in the individual pursuit, Madison, and team pursuit.
