Police: Woman tries to murder boyfriend

The Gilroy Police Department responded to an attempted murder and domestic violence incident at approximately 11:54 p.m. Saturday near the 8000 block of Church Street, according to GPD Sgt. Pedro Espinoza.
Following a report of an argument-turned fight between a man and a woman, officers arrived at the scene and found the male victim – whose identity was being withheld by authorities as of Wednesday – had sustained multiple stab wounds on his upper body, the GPD says. The victim was air lifted to a Bay Area trauma center where he is currently listed in stable condition.
Police arrested the victim’s 22-year-old girlfriend, Brenda Ramirez, of Gilroy, on charges of attempted murder and domestic violence.
According to Espinoza, multiple witnesses called 9-1-1 saying they watched the argument turn violent after Ramirez was allegedly chasing her boyfriend down Church Street.
“Witnesses interviews determined that the female was chasing the victim,” Espinoza said Wednesday. “An officer witnessed some sort of struggle between Ramirez and the victim – but did not see the stabbing.”
Next, the suspect and the victim allegedly tried to lie to police about the domestic violence incident, he said, and would not say which one was the attacker.
Only after officers spoke to various witnesses and gathered preliminary evidence did they determine that Ramirez stabbed the victim in the upper torso, according to Espinoza.
Ramirez was booked into Santa Clara County Jail, where she is currently being held with no bail set or posted, a clerk with the Santa Clara County Superior Court confirmed Wednesday.
