Live Oak’s Michael Porras was a home run away from a cycle as the Acorns downed Fremont 8-3 Thursday at the Tamone Tournament.
The win was the Acorns’ first of the young season, improving to 1-1 overall.
Live Oak struck for three runs in the first and fourth innings and went off for 12 hits for the game. Seven Acorns had RBIs, including Porras who drove in two, going 3-3 with two runs scored.
He had a single, double and a triple in the game and had a sacrifice fly in a fourth at bat to lead the charge.
Zach Riveron also scored twice, including off a solo home run.
Mitch Hickey and Anthony Ditta both had two hits in the win. Ditta drove in a run, along with Alejandro Martinez, Kyle Quadros and Kyle Riveron.
The Acorns are scheduled to continue the Tamone Tournament Saturday.
