parking lot at Cochrane Plaza shopping center the week before
because it broke down and it was stolen. The Volvo station wagon
had not been stolen. The report was taken on Aug. 3 at 9:27pm.

• A resident of Mathilda Court reported he let his son use his Dodge, and the vehicle was last parked in front of the residence. The son is now in jail, and the Dodge is gone, and the resident thinks his daughter-in-law, who doesn’t have permission to use it, may have taken the vehicle. The report was taken at 9:05pm Aug. 4.
Grand theft
• A Morgan Hill resident reported he went to check on his boat, which was parked in a gated area on Burnett Avenue, and he found his trolling motor was stolen. The motor was valued at $2,500. The resident said the boat was also damaged on the front of the bow, and a Polaroid camera was also stolen. The report was taken on Aug. 5 at 1:48pm.
Petty theft
•A Morgan Hill resident reported a bike, valued at $200, stolen from the bike rack in front of the Morgan Hill library. The report was taken on Aug. 3 at 6:18pm.
• A Morgan Hill resident reported a cell phone was stolen while the resident was at the Aquatics Center on June 24. The report was taken at 11:12am on Aug. 6.
Identity theft
• A resident of the 17000 block of Oak Leaf Drive reported her Visa card number was used by someone else in April, and she just found out about it. The report was taken on Aug. 5 at 2:30pm.
Auto Burglary
• A resident of the 17400 block of Calle Mazatan reported the back window of her vehicle was shattered overnight. It was unclear at the time of the report what was stolen from the vehicle. The report was taken on Aug. 6 at 7:04am.
Fraud
• Home Depot in the Oak Glen shopping center reported counterfeit bills were used to purchase merchandise. The report was taken on Aug. 3 at 4:38pm.
• A Morgan Hill resident reported the resident was approached by someone at the Costco in Gilroy who persuaded the resident to give the suspect $5,000. The report was taken at 8:19pm on Aug. 3.
Battery
• A resident of Sara Jane Court reported her husband was attacked in front of their home. The husband told his wife he thought the assailant had some type of bar in his hand to hit him with. He was transported to St. Louise Medical Center for treatment. The wife gave police a brief description of the suspect and told them a car was idling down the street from the residence during the attack. The report was taken on Aug. 4 at 6:50am.
Vandalism
• A Morgan Hill resident reported the resident’s vehicle was hit with something while it was parked at Safeway in the Oak Glen shopping center. The resident reported a large “crease” in the tailgate of the Lexus. The report was taken on Aug. 3 at 10:42am.
• The fence at the Morgan Hill skate park was cut sometime over the weekend. the report was taken at 11:39am Aug. 3.
n A Morgan Hill resident reported someone “raced by” his Chrysler Grand Caravan while it was parked on Spring Avenue and threw something at the van, breaking the back window. The report was taken on Aug. 5 at 11pm.
•A resident of the Paradise Motel told police his vehicle was scratched overnight, and he has an ongoing dispute with site manager, who is the only resident with kids at the motel. The report was taken at 3:17pm on Aug. 6.
CHP
Driving under the influence of alcohol
• Robert Richard Hessler, of Gilroy, at 7:55pm Aug. 18 on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after a solo motorcycle crash on southbound Oak Glen Avenue, beside the Chesbro Reservoir west of Morgan Hill. Hessler drove a 2002 Honda motorcycle off the road and overturned, causing minor injury, according to the CHP.
• Gregory Charles Billingsley, Vallejo, 52, on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run following a collision at 2:12pm Aug. 20, on the southbound offramp of U.S. 101 onto East Dunne Avenue in Morgan Hill. Billingsley’s 1997 Geo Prizm reportedly rear-ended a 2000 Ford Ranger driven by Laura Ann Harrison 47, of San Juan Bautista. He tried to leave the scene but was caught.
• Jose Primitivo Alva-Alva, 27, of San Jose, at 8:46pm Aug. 20, on Leavesley Road at Murray Avenue on suspicion of DUI, driving without a license and driving without proof of insurance.
• Ray L. McCullough, 36, of Oakland, at 11:07pm Aug. 20, on southbound U.S. 101 south of Tennant Avenue on suspicion of DUI.
• Victor Mario Gonzalez-Campos, 27, of Santa Clara at 10:35pm Aug. 21, on nouthbound U.S. 101 at the truck inspection facility in Gilroy on suspicion of DUI, driving without a license, driving without proof of insurance and driving with an open container of alcohol.
• Andrei Stamatii, 39, of Hayward at 1:28am Aug. 22, on southbound U.S. 101 at the Sixth Street overpass, on suspicion of DUI.
• David Valencia 21, of Los Banos, on suspicion of felony DUI following a collision at 8:58pm Aug. 22, on southbound U.S. 101 north of San Martin Avenue. Valencia’s 2003 Honda Civic allegedly rear-ended a 2003 Dodge Caravan driven by Penny Lee Soto, 26, of Morgan Hill. Valencia’s car then overturned and crashed into a freeway perimeter fence. Soto reportedly complained of pain to her back and neck.
• Luyen Ngoc Mui, 28, of San Jose, at 12:53am Aug. 23, on Pacheco Pass Highway west of Dinosaur Point on suspicion of DUI.
• Jose Jesus Rodriguez, 46, of San Jose, at 1:17am Aug. 23, on Monterey Highway north of Metcalf Road on suspicion of DUI.
• Rachael A. Rock, 35, of San Jose, arrested at 756 Concord Ave., Friday, Sept. 3 for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a restricted license and driving in a high-occupancy lane.
