About the Camps:
The Missoula Children’s Theater returns this year as an expanded performing arts day camp in conjunction with Missoula Children’s Theater. Enrolled children will be cast in roles in the musical production of The Frog Prince, which they will perform to a live audience in Montalvo’s Garden Theatre at the conclusion of the camp. Partnering with Montalvo to provide enrichment workshops is the acclaimed Ballet San Jose Silicon Valley School.
Inspired by Montalvo’s Artist Residency program and housed in the new artist studios, the Young Artists in Residence Fine Arts Day Camp will introduce young artists to a diversity of disciplines in workshops taught by top Bay Area artists. The program is developed to nurture creativity fostered through an atmosphere of experimentation and exploration. The experience will encourage friendships through the sharing of ideas and collaborative projects, while allowing for individual growth and self-expression.
Starry, Starry Night: Art & Astronomy Slumber Party invites members ages 8 and up to learn more about our vast universe and the artistic inspiration it has long provided. Scheduled to coincide with the annual Perseid meteor showers and offered in collaboration with the San Jose Astronomical Society, this event will provide participants with the opportunity to view the active night sky through powerful telescopes. The evening will also include a presentation on the meteor showers, hands-on art activities, a storyteller weaving tales inspired by the heavens, and the rare opportunity to sleep under the stars on Montalvo’s front lawn.
