age of 35.

“Markie” was born and raised in Gilroy. After graduating from Gilroy High School he attended West Hills Community College in Coalinga. He most recently owned and operated R&M Santos Excavation with his father. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Gilroy. Mark enjoyed mountain biking, BMX, hot rods and RC cars. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and son “Marky.”
He is the father of Mark J. Santos; son of Roger and Kathy Santos; brother of Leanne Santos and her husband Leon Haygood; and grandson of Nancy Ciacco, all of Gilroy; nephew of Alfred Ciacco, Jim and his wife Pauline Lemberger and Dorothy Chiesa, all of Gilroy, Charlie and his wife Betty Elder of Cupertino and Farrel Martin of Hollister; greatnephew of Walter “Buzz” Walsh; and uncle of Beau and Timmy Haygood, all of Gilroy. He also is survived by many cousins, aunts and uncles.
Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents Elmer and Flora Santos and Frank Ciacco; and his greataunt Margaret Walsh.
Services including Funeral Mass were Thursday under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gilroy.
A trust for Mark’s son has been established at the South Valley National Bank in Gilroy.Amelia Hernandez-Rubio died Monday, April 12, 2004, at her home in Gilroy. She was 75.
A native of Mexico, Amelia enjoyed knitting, arts, and crafts but mostly she loved to spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be loved and missed forever.
She is survived by her husband, Jesus Rubio of Gilroy; children Rosario and her husband Jose Castaneda of Gilroy, Juan and his wife Evangelina Triana of Gilroy, Alicia and her husband Pifanio Avila of Phoenix, Elvia and her husband Juan Galvan of Gilroy, Miguel and his wife Rosaura Rubio of Gilroy, Delfina Rubio of Gilroy, Maria de Jesus Rubio of Gilroy and Lilia and her husband Jesus Ibarra of Gilroy; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Burial was this morning, Friday, at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park in Gilroy under the direction of Habing Family Funeral Home.
