Morgan Hill – Although the city was mostly quiet on Christmas Day, Morgan Hill Police were kept busy on Christmas Eve by several fights in addition to the usual Saturday night calls for service.
A 20-year-old Morgan Hill woman was taken to Santa Clara County Jail early Sunday morning charged with felony domestic violence and felony child endangerment after an argument with her boyfriend.
According to MHPD Sgt. Mark Brazeal, police were called about a disturbance at 1:42am.
“Apparently, the two were fighting over their 5-month-old child,” he said. “She wanted to take the child and leave, and he didn’t want her to.”
The woman’s boyfriend was holding the child when the woman allegedly picked up a kitchen knife to scare her boyfriend, Brazeal said.
“There was a struggle, he wasn’t going to give her the child while she was holding the knife, and during the struggle he received several small lacerations on the top of his left hand,” he said.
The 21-year-old male refused treatment, according to Brazeal.
At 1:53am on Sunday, officers responded to 140 East Edmundson Ave., where eight subjects were reportedly engaged in a fight. When officers arrived, Brazeal said, they didn’t see a fight but found a man sitting in a car at the address.
“It was clear he had been pretty severely beaten,” he said. “Officers ended up arresting seven people, all male, ages between 19-30.”
Two of the men were residents of the Edmundson Avenue address, Brazeal said, while three were from Mantika and one was from San Jose.
The victim, Eduardo Aragon, 25, of San Jose was taken to Saint Louise Medical Center for treatment while officers spent four hours investigating the incident, only to determine that Aragon was the primary aggressor, said Brazeal.
“Drinking was a significant factor in the event,” he said. “It was a mutual combat type of thing. No one wanted to press charges. In fact, when we brought Aragon back to the station from the hospital, and we released all seven who were arrested, they all walked home together.”
Three of the men are related, Brazeal said, and the victim and one of the other men are related.

MHPD Sgt. Mark Brazeal said there will be more officers out patrolling, looking for people driving under the influence, on New Year’s Eve.
“‘Designated driver’s are free, DUI costs a fortune,’ is this year’s slogan,” Brazeal said Monday. “Designate a driver before you walk out the door so the driver is very clear about their responsibilities.”
