The San Jose Giants have announced a two-year player development agree-ment extension with the San Francisco

The agreement allows San Jose to remain the parent club’s Advanced Class-A minor league affiliate in the California League.

San Jose has now been affiliated with the Giants organization for 16 years, the second longest player development pact in the California League.

“We are pleased to announce the continuation of our Player Development contract with the San Francisco Giants through the 2006 season,” San Jose Giants Chief Operating Officer Chris Lampe said. “For 16 years, we have formed a partnership that has benefited both teams. (A total of) 84 former San Jose Giants have gone on to play in the Major Leagues since 1988. During this span, the San Jose Giants have won more games than any other California League team.”

Only the Modesto A’s (Oakland) have been affiliated with a Major League organization for longer.

A number of former San Jose Giants players have made it to the big leagues, including current San Francisco Giants Jerome Williams, David Aardsma, Yorvit Torrealba and Tony Torcato.
