inaugural “Best of the Best” golf tournament at Coyote Creek Golf

Led by Sean McNamara’s first-place round of 69, Los Gatos High finished atop a field of the Bay Area’s premier scholastic golf programs to capture the inaugural “Best of the Best” golf tournament at Coyote Creek Golf Club last week.
Att the event also known as the Santa Teresa golf tourney, Los Gatos distinguished itself as the team to beat in the Central Coast Section, finishing seven strokes ahead of its nearest competitor, Sacred Heart Cathedral, in the 24-team field.
Pacific Grove High was in third, 12 strokes back.
In addition to McNamara, who eagled the par-five 9th, top individual finishers included Geordon Bean of North Salinas High (70) and Gerardo S. Loyola from Watsonville High (71), who finished second and third, respectively.
“It’s great to be able to bring a collection of talented high school golfers to a course of Coyote Creek’s caliber and see what they can do,” Tournament Director and Santa Teresa High golf coach Don Yellum said. “The tournament went off without a hitch and we’re looking forward to doing it again next year.”
