Rather than being fiscally responsible in tight budget times the Morgan Hill City Council would rather spend $50,000 in tax dollars turning our town into Peyton Place. At a time when we should all be pinching pennies they insist that investigating who investigated whether the city manager was having an affair with the city attorney and moreover how that was somehow city business. They should ask why Councilmembers Larry Carr and Greg Sellers’ report laser focused only on Councilmember Hedy Chang. Maybe we should investigate why they are so free spending with our tax money
The recently revealed name of Attorney Bruce Tichinin’s mysterious client, Howard Vierra, was apparently not unknown early on. He and Mr. Tichinin were the first names mentioned by the city manager in his report about the surveillance. That was before the investigation started. If Mr. Carr or Mr. Seller had called Mr. Tichinin to ask about this client, not one dollar would have been wasted.
Even more mysterious is the fact that after Mr. Tichinin told them the surveillance was on behalf of one of his other clients, they still avoided looking in that direction. Why wasn’t the report interested in any of these other clients of Mr. Tichinin? Maybe the City Council should spend $50,000 investigating that.
