With a berth in the Regional Tournament championships on the line, the Morgan Hill Bronco all-stars played their best ball to date, pounding Los Gatos 12-3 at El Camino Field (Cabrillo School) in Santa Clara on Wednesday.

Morgan Hill will play for the Region title on Saturday at noon, and will have to be beaten twice by either Blossom Valley or Los Gatos, who will play the last round of the losers bracket Friday.

On Wednesday, MH’s Chris Bradley started for the green and gold and went three innings.

Nick Rameriz came in to relieve in the fourth and shut down Los Gatos to seal the deal.

Los Gatos struck first with a solo shot in the first inning.

But Morgan Hill came back with a nifty two-out rally in the second. Matt Carroll walked and Mike Singleton singled, and both advanced on a widl pitch.

A passed ball scored Carroll and Singleton was balked in for a 2-1 lead.

Los Gatos took back the lead in the second inning, 3-2, but that would be the last lead for the opposition.

In the third, Morgan Hill tallied back-to-back homers by Carroll and Singleton.

Then, Nick Hagiperos reached first on an error, stole second and advanced to third on a Brian Bradley sacrifice.

Greg Hamik struck out but a dropped third strike sent Hamik barreling down the base line. The errant throw allowed Hagiperos to score and prolonged the inning.

J.P. Howard then reached on an error, and, with Hamik at second, Chris Bradley sent a 1-0 pitch out of the yard for a three-run homer.

Los Gatos never recovered.
