Between the Makos swim club and a variety of water polo squads from Masters and Moms to age group teams, there’s been plenty of aquatics activity this summer so far.
And, there’s plenty more planned in the next several weeks.
For the Makos, eight swimmers will compete at the age group championships in Concord this weekend. The eight qualifiers are: Susan Suchomel, Alisa Pinarbasi, Mike Wu, Steven Rick, Danny Thompson, Katie Rick, Amber Acevedo and Kortney Kay.
The following weekend, Thomas and David Dunn will compete at the USA Sectionals in Clovis. David Dunn was recently named to the High School All-American list, turning in Top 20 times in the nation in the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly.
Also that weekend, the Makos will host a tri-meet with the Cabrillo Threshers and Barracuda Aquatics at the Morgan Hill Aquatics Center.
And, the MH Aquatics Association will hold its annual Cool Brews for Cool Pools event on July 24.
The big event this summer will be the Coast Valley Aquatics Association championships Aug. 6-8 at the aquatics center.
Also this weekend, the Morgan Hill Water Polo Club is hosting a multi-team meet at Live Oak High. The boys 18-and-under team is competing on Saturday, while the boys 14-and-under and 16-and-under squads will compete on Sunday.
Those three squads, along with the Seniors water polo team (made up of high school and college grads), are planning a trip to Maui to compete Aug. 2-6.
In addition, the Moms water polo team is planning to compete in its first tournament at the Soda Center in Orinda on July 25.
Finally, the Masters water polo squad is considering a trip to Las Vegas later this summer.
