Creek Golf Course.

For the second year, the Live Oak High Athletic Booster Club is hosting a fundraiser golf tournament. This year’s event, which not only pays for uniforms, equipment and facilities but coaching stipends, will be held Sept. 18 at Coyote Creek Golf Course. Registration will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by lunch from noon to 12:45 p.m., and a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The tourney will include a scramble format and is limited to 144 golfers. There will be a no-host reception at 6 p.m. after the tourney and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $195 per person, which includes golf, cart, lunch, dinner and prizes. Dinner only is $40. The tourney is also still in need of sponsors.

Sobrato boosters meetings

Join the growing group of parents and future parents of Sobrato High athletes at the Athletic Boosters’ Open House and fundraiser with pizza from 5:30-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8. Regular meetings take place on the third Tuesday of every month.

Contrary to rumor, the Live Oak High football program is offering both Junior Varsity and Freshman football this fall. Anyone interested in joining the football program should call Live Oak High head football coach Glen Webb.

MH pony winter ball

Morgan Hill Pony Baseball will be accepting walk-in registrations for the Winterball 2004 season from 7:30pm-8:30pm on Wednesday, Aug. 25 at Mountain Mike’s Pizza, Tennant Station at Monterey Road in Morgan Hill, next door to Sizzler. All fees are $40. Late registrations (after Aug. 28) will be $45. Teams will be drafted during the week of Sept. 6, with practices starting on Sept. 11. MH pride to hold tryouts

The Pride of Morgan Hill Softball program will be having tryouts for its 10U, 12U and 14U Fall Ball teams on Sunday, August 29 at Community Park in Morgan Hill. Pitchers and catchers should arrive by noon. All other players start at 1 p.m. Tryouts end at 3 p.m.

El Toro aquatics clinic

El Toro Aquatics is holding a free Stroke Clinic for kids aged 6 and older Aug. 24-27 at the Morgan Hill Aquatics Center. Must be able to swim 25 yards. Also, El Toro is holding a Novice Clinic for kids who can swim 15 yards to be held the week of Sept. 13. Space is limited so sign up now.

SCBA signups

The SCBA Fall Basketball program begins on Sept. 11. The leagues run until Nov. 6. The fee for a new player is currently $95 and for a returning player is $75. There is a $10 deduction for each additional family member. This Saturday-only program is held on the Britton Middle School campus. Applications are available at www.scbabasketball.org

Gilroy Chaos softball tryouts

Tryouts for the Gilroy Chaos’ 16U, 14U and 12U girls softball teams will be held Wednesday, Aug. 25 from 5pm-7pm, Saturday, Aug. 28 from 10am-1pm and Wednesday, Sept. 1 from 5pm-7pm at Christmas Hill Park (Ranch Field) in Gilroy.
