I keep hearing the statement “The potential for being killed or injured by a mountain lion is lower than the risk of being struck by lightning.”
But lately I have heard more about mountain lions attacking people than people being hit by lighting. The next time someone gets hit by lightning, could you folks report on it, because I feel this is the state Department of Fish and Game way of downplaying the actual risk of mountain lion attacks.
Also there are a lot more pets that get killed every year from mountain lions that people never hear about. Let face it, it’s not news.
The population of mountain lions is growing at a rapid rate. We do not see them because they are nocturnal animals. We keep building on our hillsides and taking away their land and they keep breeding and breeding.
Please don’t help the state DFG to downplay the problem of mountain lions growing at a rapid rate. You are doing your readers an injustice.
