Fraud: Bay Mountain Air reported someone trying to cash a company check at the Northside Market. The report was taken at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 17.
• A resident of White Oak Court reported he had been living with an “acquaintance” for a little while and that person wrote bad checks to him and also stole the resident’s check and cashed it. The report was taken on Nov. 18 at 12:46 p.m.
• A resident of Laurel Wood Lane told police someone used his personal information to attempt a transfer of $1,000 from his bank account. The report was taken at 10:22 a.m. on Nov. 19.
• Rite Aid reported a counterfeit $100 bill was given to the business by a customer. The report was taken on Nov. 19 at 2:04 p.m.
• A resident of Morgan Hill reported she lost her wallet in Gilroy and now someone is using her credit cards in Morgan Hill. The report was taken at 6:53 p.m. on Nov. 20.
• A resident of the 18200 block of Shadowbrook Way reported her mail was stolen from her mailbox, and checks from a credit card were stolen and used. The report was taken on Nov. 20 at 7:25 p.m.
• The Walgreens pharmacy reported a suspect tried to fill a fake prescription for Vicadin. The report was taken at 4;01 p.m. on Nov. 24.
Child abuse: Britton Middle School reported a student was discovered to be pregnant; the suspected father of the child is approximately 23 years old. The report was taken on Nov. 14 at 9:10 a.m.
• A Morgan Hill resident reported her son and daughter-in-law are using drugs in their home and their son, her grandchild, is being neglected. The report was taken at 10:13 a.m. on Nov. 17.
Battery: The mother of a Britton Middle School student reported her daughter was attacked on campus by other students. The report was taken on Nov. 17 at 4:23 p.m.
Auto burglary: A resident of La Crosse Drive reported her vehicle was broken into. The resident told police she believes she knows who did it. The report was taken on Nov. 14 at 5:10 p.m.
• A business on West Dunne Avenue reported two company vehicles broken into and items were stolen. The back windows of the vehicles were broken. The report was taken at 9:12 a.m. on Nov. 16.
• A vehicle was broken into at Live Oak High School while the owner was swimming at the school. The owner said someone took the keys to his vehicle and stole several items, including credit cards that have already been used by the thief. The report was taken on Nov. 16 at 12:20 p.m.
• A resident of Waterton Court reported the resident’s van was broken into and an AC converter, a checkbook and cell phone were stolen from the van. The report was taken at 12;12 p.m. on Nov. 17.
• A resident of the Morgan Hill Apartment Trailers reported someone attempted to break into her vehicle. She told police she heard noise outside and looked out the window and saw the door of the vehicle was open. The report was taken on Nov. 18 at 10 p.m.
• Five packages were stolen from a locked trailer while it was parked at the Best Western Country Inn overnight. The lock on the trailer door was sawed off. The report was taken at 5:06 a.m. on Nov. 21.
• A Sacramento resident reported his truck was broken into on Nov. 16 when he was staying at the Inn at Morgan Hill. He told police the doors were locked but one window was open a little. He said 65 CDs, a suede jacket and vehicle registration papers were stolen. The report was taken on Nov. 21 at 2:51 p.m.
Arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance: Samuel J. Ventura, 35, of Morgan Hill was cited and released. The report was taken at 6:42 p.m. on Nov. 9.
• Philip Cavillo, 20, listed as a transient, was taken to county jail. He was also charged with attempted residential burglary and possession of burglary tools and he had two outstanding warrants. The report was taken on Nov. 23 at 2:29 a.m.
Arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence: Jorge M. Ariano, 38, of San Jose was cited and released. The report was taken on Nov. 10 at 1:58 a.m.
• Thomas G. Dorsett, 62, of Mabank, Texas, was cited and released. The report was taken at 10:52 p.m. on Nov. 11.
Threats: An Albertson’s employee reported receiving obscene phone calls at work. The caller asks for the employee by name. The report was taken on Nov. 14 at 8:50 a.m.
• A resident of Lindo Lane reported his roommate threatened to kill him. The report was taken at 10:02 a.m. on Nov. 19.
Burglary: A guest at the Paradise Motel reported someone broke into her room, breaking the door jam. She was not sure at the time of the report if anything was stolen. She told police she suspects the ex-girlfriend of her friend. She said she has had problems with the suspect in the past and saw her trying to get into the room earlier in the day. The report was taken on Nov. 16 at 8:40 p.m.
• A locked storage locker at the construction site for the Harley Davidson building was broken into over the weekend. The report was taken at 8:24 a.m. on Nov. 17.
• A resident of Del Monte Avenue reported someone broke into his bedroom and stole his wallet and “rummaged through” the entire room. The report was taken on Nov. 17 at 4:41 p.m.
• A resident of the 16600 block of San Benito drive reported that someone walked into her house while she was getting ready for work and stole her purse from the desk. The report was taken at 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 20.
• A construction trailer on the site of homes being built on Domaine and Zinfandel Roads was broken into overnight. Several power tools, a torch tank and other items were stolen. The report was taken on Nov. 21 at 7:35 a.m.
• A Morgan Hill resident reported the resident’s storage unit at Overland Storage had been broken into some time within the past two months. The report was taken at 10:23 a.m. on Nov. 21.
• A Marie Callendar’s employee reported she stepped out the back door and noticed someone had tried to break the lock to a refrigerator. She also told police she found a pair of bolt cutters. The report was taken on Nov. 22 at 6:46 p.m.
CHP
Accidents: A Hollister man was flown by medical helicopter to Valley Medical Center in San Jose after a single-vehicle accident at 1:40 p.m. Sunday on Oak Glen Avenue, west of Llagas Road. Joe G. Ortiz, 34, was traveling eastbound on Oak Glen when his Harley Davidson motorcycle drifted onto the shoulder as he attempted to negotiate a turn, the CHP said. Ortiz lost control of the bike and laid it down in the roadway, breaking his left leg and scraping his face and back.
• Southbound 101 between Coyote Creek Golf Course Drive and Cochrane Road was the scene of three accidents Saturday that involved a common car in the span of four minutes.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at 10:10 p.m. Lauren Jolley, 20, of La Quinta, was driving a Dodge Neon when a black BMW hit the left rear of her car.
The driver of the BMW fled the scene, leaving Jolley’s car blocking the right lane.
Two minutes later, a 1993 Toyota Carolla driven by Doris Henry, 49, of Watsonville collided with the Neon.
Two minutes after that, an unidentified driver of a Honda Accord, registered to a San Jose driver, hit the Neon and fled the scene.
In the second and third collisions, Jolley was out of the car.
No injuries were reported. No citations have been issued.
