GREEN PHONE: Caller 1, Green Phone believes that Long Shots columnist Jim Johnson suggested that the Soccer Silicon Valley organization appeared to have accepted that San Jose Earthquakes’ owner AEG seems determined to relocate the team to Houston because of a statement on your own Web site, which read in part, “(Relocation) is one of AEG’s options and it appears that they are preparing earnestly for that contingency.” Green Phone doesn’t believe the column was meant to indicate that SSV had given up on trying to keep the Quakes in San Jose, especially because a potential investor (Netherlands-based AJAX America) has surfaced recently, but rather had recognized AEG’s determination to move the club. By the way, Green Phone is rooting for the Quakes to stay in San Jose. The South Bay needs more successful pro teams, not fewer.
