A Morgan Hill cyclist was killed Sunday afternoon on Hale Avenue north of Morgan Hill when he pulled unexpectedly in front of a car driven by Salvador Zarate, 39, of Morgan Hill.

David Bishop, 58, died as a result of injuries suffered in the accident, according to the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.

Bishop was driving a three-wheeled cycle, known as a recumbent tricycle, northbound on Hale Avenue, just south of Caprista Court when the accident occurred.

Zarate, who was also driving northbound, tried to avoid stop, the police report said, but was unable to avoid the cyclist who was attempting a U-turn at Caprista Court.

Bishop was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics who were unable to revive him with CPR.

The CHP asked that anyone who have have witnessed the collision to call Officer C. Dugger at 842-2324.
