Dear Editor,
Morgan Hill, thank you for your vote and support. I am very pleased with the results of election night and humbled by the responsibility you’ve placed in my hands.
As I look back at the last few months, I would like to recognize my family, my lifelong friend and loving spouse, Colleen, who never blinked once when I told her I was thinking about running for City Council; my children, Michael and Maureen, who put up with dad while he was out on the campaign trail. I would also like to thank the many supporters who wrote letters, put up signs in their front yards and canvassed neighborhoods. I thank you all.
As I look toward the new year, I see problems and also opportunities for Morgan Hill. The future will test all of us, but I believe that we will solve our budget problems, build a new and wonderful library, mitigate the many issues surrounding Coyote Valley, provide much needed services and facilities for seniors and youths, continue our focus and support of the downtown and bring new business to our city without impacting our neighborhoods. We will do this and more while maintaining our rural character and preserving our precious open space.
Whatever we do, I want to do it together. It’s a plea every newly elected official makes. But it’s so true. No one can do this alone. We are a community of families who share a common desire to live the good life, in good health, to raise good children, and to grow old in comfort and security. We can do this, but we must do it together.
The future will challenge us all, and it will take all of us if we are to make it to the next decade and beyond. Therefore, like others before me, I call upon each of you to join my passion for a better Morgan Hill, to serve on committees and commissions, to become involved, write, email or call and take part in the democratic process that makes this city one of the best in California and our country the envy of the world.
Email me at gr******@*****on.net, thank you.
Mark Grzan,
council member-elect Morgan Hill
