2004, after a lengthy battle with leukemia. She was 60.
Josie T. Romero died peacefully at her home Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, after a lengthy battle with leukemia. She was 60.

Josie was born and raised in Eagle Pass, Texas. She married her husband, Arturo, in 1967 and then moved to Gilroy. She later received her bachelor’s and master’s in social work from San Jose State University. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church.

She was the loving wife of Arturo Romero of Gilroy; loving mom of Diana Martinez and her husband Ruben of Gilroy and Arturo Romero Jr. and his wife Jean of Gilroy; dear grandmother of Matthew, Nicolas and Amanda Martinez, all of Gilroy, and Joshua and Juliana Romero, both of Gilroy; sister of Romelia Sanchez of Eagle Pass, Texas; Macedonio Torralba of Eagle Pass, Amador Torralba of San Jose, Raul Torralba of Morgan Hill and Jesus Torralba of Merced. She also is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation takes place from 1-5:30pm on Monday, Nov. 8, at Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy. Vigil Service follows at 7pm at St. Mary’s Church. Services take place at 9:30am on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at the funeral home followed by Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church at 10am. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
