I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Live Oak varsity football team on an amazing season! Although they suffered a tough loss Friday night in the CCS playoff game against Oak Grove, I believe I speak for the entire community when I say that we are very proud of the whole team.

This season was truly incredible. If someone had told me this time last year that we were going to make it to CCS during my senior year, I would have laughed.

So although most people recognized that it was more than we could ever have hoped for, it was easy to see a change in the mood of the crowd as the realization of our imminentloss set in. As a song girl, cheering for the game got harder and harder, as I could no longer even fake a smile by the beginning of the fourth quarter.

However, the difficult part was seeing up close the disappointment in all of the football players.

I have to admit, after seeing all the boys hugging each other and the coaches giving each of them a pat on the back, it was hard not to have a few tears in my eyes. I realized this was my last high school football game. So thank you boys, for making this an unforgettable football season; one that I was sad to see end.

In other news around school, ASB has finally decided on a theme for this year’s Winter Ball, to be held on Saturday, Dec. 11. After coming up with a few different ideas, we were able to get input from the whole student body by having them vote on which plan they liked best.

The ballots are in and the results are that we will be having a “Las Vegas” themed dance. Over the next few weeks, ASB will be working very hard to plan for a fun, festive event for all of the students. As we head into Thanksgiving vacation, seniors and their families will be wrapping up last-minute college application details in time for the approaching Nov. 30 deadline.

I know I will be breathing a huge sigh of relief come Dec. 1 once all of my applications have been submitted. So for now, enjoy spending time with family while feasting on stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, and of course, turkey.

Happy Thanksgiving and Go Nuts!
