New books

Rope Trick by Alexander: Lidi is on a quest to locate Ferramondo, the legendary magician, and learn the illusive rope trick. She’s a brilliant magician and could be the best if she only knew the trick.

Tyler on Prime time by Atinsky Tyler wants to be an actor on the popular TV show, Kids in the House, and with his Uncle Pete being one of the show’s writers, this will be a cinch, right?

Gates of Gold by Casonova Cecile. Twelve-year-old peasant girl Cecile Revel dreams of life in the court of King Louis XIV. Through a chance encounter with a member of the royal family, she is given an opportunity to make her dream come true. However, court life is not quite the elegant fantasy she imagined.

Creech by Ruby Holler. Dallas and Florida, unjustly known as the “trouble twins,” have been shuffled from orphanage to foster homes and back again. No wonder they are skeptical about their newest foster parents and a place called Ruby Holler.

The Amazing Thinking Machine by Haseley. It’s 1929, during the Great Depression. Patrick, 8, and Roy, 13, create a machine, The Amazing Thinking Machine, with propeller, bell, tubes, lights, and a typewriter to help their mother make ends meet while their father is away looking for a job.

The Sands of Time by Hoeye. There’s one subject that you just don’t bring up in a city of civilized rodents – cats. Our hero, Hermux Tantamog, the watchmaker mouse, is up to his ears in trouble as he ventures along a trail of treachery to find the lost Kingdom of Cats.

The Victory Garden by Kochenderfer. With a desire to do her part in contributing to the war effort during WWII, Teresa organizes her friends into a gardening group to care for an ill neighbor’s victory garden. Maybe it will help keep her brother safe.

String Music by Telander. Forced by his mom to quit basketball, Rob leaves home to see his hero Jasper Jasmine play in a pro game. Then he actually gets to meet Jasper and finds there’s more than one way to play the game.

Banks. The Indian in the Cupboard.

Baum. The Wizard of Oz.

Burnett. The Secret Garden.

Carroll. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Cleary. Dear Mr. Henshaw.

Dahl. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Juster. The Phantom Tollbooth.

L’Engle. A Wrinkle in Time.

Lewis. The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.

Naylor. Shiloh.

Norton. The Borrowers.

White. Stuart Little.

All of these books are in the library’s J Fiction area. Ask a children’s librarian to show you where to find these books the next time you visit the library.
