The Morgan Hill Community Foundation regrets the cancellation of the Directors’ Ball, which was to be held Feb. 28. This ball was a fund-raising event for the Foundation’s grant-making activities, and the Foundation could not in clear conscience move forward on the event without the assurance that the financial goals would be met. Although it was a painstakingly difficult decision, the Board of Directors felt that the prudent and responsible thing to do for the community and the Foundation was to cancel the event.
The mission of the Foundation is to be an umbrella organization which supports efforts to enrich the greater Morgan Hill area. By linking people and resources, the Foundation’s goal is to make a positive impact on the lives of those in our community. The Board of Directors continues to dedicate itself to that mission.
Our decisions are based on sound fiscal practices and we take seriously our role as financial stewards of donors’ investments. We are very proud to have awarded 14 grants to local nonprofits and programs within the last year and a half.
The Board of Directors wants to thank the many volunteers, sponsors, supporters and ticket holders for their support and dedication toward this event. But just as important is the belief they have shown towards our mission. Collectively, we are creating new opportunities to answer needs and enrich the lives of the residents of the Morgan Hill, San Martin and Coyote areas. Our focus remains guided by our mission and the good will of our donors. I am proud to be a part of this organization.
