The Coyote Valley Specific Plan Task Force will hold a workshop on Saturday, March 13, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Southside Community Center, 5585 Cottle Road, on the west side of Cottle Rd., north of Poughkeepsie Road, near the IBM plant.

The event was earlier scheduled for the Grange Hall in Coyote but was moved to the larger Southside Center.

Coyote Valley Specific Plan development is in the “Listening Phase” and organizers hope to hear from residents and property owners all over the city. Residents are encouraged to bring ideas and photos of their concept of the future of the Coyote Valley community.

Since the development of Coyote Valley is expected to have a significant effect on Morgan Hill’s school district, environment, housing and transportation – even more than on San Jose’s, according to Mayor Dennis Kennedy – Morgan Hill residents are encouraged to attend the meeting.

The San Jose mayor and city council will be present as well as other members of the 20-member Coyote Valley Specific Plan Task Force (with representatives from property owners, residents, real estate, developer and environmental groups).

Russ Danielson, a former MHSD school board trustee is the only Morgan Hill-related representative on the panel, though Kennedy and other council members plan to attend the workshop.

It is the first of four spring and summer workshops on this project. The Dahlin Group has been selected by the San Jose city staff to be the master planner for Coyote Valley.

Plans to develop the 6,800-acre valley between south San Jose and north Morgan Hill include an eventual 50,000 new jobs, 25,000 housing units and as many as 80,000 residents.
