Picking up its fourth win of the Tri-County Athletic League season, the Live Oak High boys tennis team defeated host Hollister-San Benito 5-2 in a dual match on Tuesday.

Live Oak (4-2 in league play) got wins from all four singles players, including Chris Laskodi, Nick Matsumoto, who was playing in his first match of the season, Eric Matsumoto, and Timothy Bouchette.

Live Oak also picked up a victory at No. 1 doubles.

LO rugby

Live Oak’s rugby club were handed another tough loss — 22-8 to visiting Los Altos — last week.

In the absence of injured senior center Miguel Ayala and captain Zach Frates, who was lost to injury early in the match, Live Oak hung tough early against Los Altos and trailed by just a 10-3 margin in the first half.

Live Oak’s points came off a penalty kick by senior scrum half Brian Crane.

Crane added the Acorns’ lone try in the second half but Los Altos pulled away for the victory.
