Morgan Hill’s Junior Midgets rolled into the playoffs with a regular-season ending blowout victory last weekend, while the Junior Pee Wees lost their game and will have to play a first-round road game this weekend. Following are the results:

MH Raiders Junior Midgets 23, Redwood City 49ers 0

After a 23-0 rout of the Redwood City 49ers on Sunday, the Morgan Hill Raider Junior Midgets will coast into the playoffs with a first-round bye while finishing the regular season with a 7-1 record and a second-place finish in league. The Raiders will have to wait for the winner of the third seed vs. the sixth-seed first-round playoff game to find out their opponent. With a win in their next game, Morgan Hill will have a chance to avenge its only loss of the year against West Valley.

Sunday, Morgan Hill dominated from start to finish, and with the big early lead, Coach Jimmy Soto had the option to mix it up a little and tune up for a strong playoff run. MH’s James Hamblin got things rolling with a second-quarter touch down run. Jeffery Roberts scored off tackle with a nine yard plunge and Jon Carin took a reverse more than 50 yards to score the final touch down.

Mike Singleton capped the scoring with an impressive 23-yard field goal. Singleton missed a 34-yard field goal late in the game by a few feet.

Redwood City 32, MH Raiders Junior Pee Wees 0

With the playoffs looming around the corner the Junior Pee Wees dipped into a two-game losing streak due in part to a 32-0 loss to a very disciplined and well-coached Redwood City 49er team last weekend. The 49ers have not allowed a single point all year in Division II play.

The loss dropped the Raiders (5-2-1) to third place and the much-needed bye week evaporated forcing the young team, which will go on the road next weekend for a first-round playoff game.

MH’s Julys Travis had 47 yards on six touches but was held out the end zone for only the second time this year.

With the score 20-0 at halftime, Morgan Hill drove the length of the field with the first possession of the second half but was denied on a fourth and goal at the one. It could have been a crucial score and the first against the 49ers this year.

The defense played tough and never quit but the 49ers used alot of speed and a strong passing game to score throughout the game.
