Worries about long lines and paperless trails have hundreds of Santa Clara County residents casting their votes early.

Not willing to wait for absentee ballots, at least 300 citizens took time last weekend to mark their ballots at the Registrar of Voter’s office.

Voters can do so again today, Oct. 30, and Sunday, Oct. 31, 9am-3pm and during business hours, 8am-5pm, Monday.

The polls will be open 7am-8pm Tuesday, Nov. 2. Early voters will have the option of using either touch screen voting machines or paper optical scan ballots and they can take advantage of audio voting and ballot information in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese and Tagalog.

Voters who are in line at the polling place by 8 pm will be allowed to vote. Lines are often longer in the early morning and after 5pm.

Absentee ballots must be turned in at the Registrar’s office or at any polling place by 8pm on Nov. 2. Postmarks will not be accepted. To find your polling place, check the back cover of the sample ballot or visit www.smartvoter.org or www.sccvote.org/
