The filing period has now been reopened.

A request for up to $850,000 from Mike Wilkinson to rehabilitate the Granada Theater was viewed warmly by the Downtown Association last week since much evening and weekend business depends on movie traffic.

Developer Rocke Garcia also asked for $1,950,000 for a land swap and purchase to provide more parking and a promenade on East Third Street from Depot to Monterey Road next to which he plans to build 45 to 50 high end condominiums with a commercial/retail mix on the first floor.

The third proposal is from a San Rafael company, EAH, Inc., a nonprofit wanting between $1.2 and $6.1 million for mixed-income housing.

Other projects are in the works, possibly even a new building for retail on Monterey Road.

City staff could send its recommendations to the City Council by the end of the year.
