Now that school is over, it’s time to start thinking about all those fun books you’ll have time to read and all the adventures you’ll have. It’s the summer reading club at the Morgan Hill Public Library.
Children from kindergarten through age 12 can sign up for this fun summer activity. Here’s how it works:
• Read a book – any book – just for fun.
• Sign up at the Children’s Reference Desk and receive your reading log.
• Each time you finish a book, write the title on your reading log.
• Read eight books or more by Saturday, July 24, and pick up your reading certificate and free book at the awards program on Wednesday, July 28.
We’re also planning special events at 3 p.m. on the following Wednesday afternoons:
June 30: Ventriloquist Steve Chaney & Cornelius Crowe
July 7: Bill Nemoyten, the Horn Man
July 14: Eliot Fintushel, Mime
July 21: Wildlife Associates, native California animals
July 28: Awards Party
If you have any questions about the program, please call 779-3196 and ask to speak to a children’s librarian. And parents, be sure to ask about our summer reading club especially for you.
This program is generously funded by the Friends of the Library. We thank them for their wonderful support.
• Teens who sign up for Morgan Hill Library’s Teen Summer Reading program can win a $10 gift certificate to BookSmart Bookstore. Every teen who reads a book and stuffs the prize barrel with a book review card, has a chance to win the weekly drawing for the gift certificate.
Weekly drawings will be held through Aug. 31. All finishers, who turn in at least five book review cards by Aug. 31, will win the $10 gift certificate. One lucky grand-prize winner will even win a $50 gift certificate to BookSmart, 17415 Monterey Road at West Second Street. Prizes are provided by the Friends of the Morgan Hill Library.
Questions and suggested topics for At the Library, which appears in Tuesday editions, should be directed to Nancy Howe, community librarian, at nh***@**********************ca.us or by calling 779-3196. The Morgan Hill Library, located at the corner of Peak and West Main avenues next to City Hall, is open every day but Sunday.
