Bev and LaVern Peipelman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 24 at a family dinner held at the beautiful Shadowbrook Restaurant in Santa Cruz. This celebration was hosted by the couple’s son, Ben Peipelman, Michele Castro and daughter, Debbie Perez.
The Peipelmans also have a daughter, Denise Jordan, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren who live in Wichita, Kansas.
The Generations Four Square Church in San Jose honored the Peipelmans, Dec. 21, during the worship service. Pastor Al Soto and his wife, Valerie Soto, asked the Peipelmans to come forward and announced that they were celebrating 50 years of marriage.
Pastor Nancy Mathias presented the couple with a corsage and buttoner while Pastor Al told about the highlights and struggles the Peipelmans had gone through to preserve their marriage. He put his hand over each of theirs and prayed for them, then asked Mr. Peipelman to pray for all of the young couples in the congregation. He stressed that when each are in God’s will, other things fall into their right priority.
When asked their secrets for a long-married life, the Peipelmans gave all the credit to the Lord, saying, “We would never have made 50 years without His guidance and strength. We quit trying to change each other, recognized we both act selfishly at times, but we still choose to love. Couples who drop in and out of relationships, do not stay long enough to allow the crisis times to turn into healing, closeness and deepened love.”
