Despite some great scoring chances by Live Oak, the Sobrato field hockey defense held strong and ultimately, kept the Acorns from finding the back of the cage.
The result was the two teams battling to a scoreless tie on Tuesday after 60 minutes of regulation and 7 minutes of overtime.
For the game, Live Oak put six shots on goal, including four in the second half.
But all six times, the Sobrato keeper stood tall, stopping five shots. The sixth hit off the cage.
Live Oak had numerous other opportunities, but couldn’t get a shot on goal.
The Acorns nearly ended it in overtime with Ally Salzwedel put a pass right on a teammate’s stick to the left of the cage, but the ensuing crossing pass in front of goal couldn’t find a friendly stick.
Sobrato, meanwhile, had a few counterattack chances, but likewise couldn’t get a clean shot on goal.
