Neighborhood Clean-up Day, conducted by GreenWaste Recovery in cooperation with the County of Santa Clara, is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sept. 19 in San Martin.
Residents in unincorporated south Santa Clara County—who must show proof of residency and original notice received at home—can bring select items to 13055 Murphy Ave. in San Martin.
Items being accepted are: home and outdoor furniture; rugs and carpets; appliances (not containing CFCs); up to 30 gallons of rock, dirt asphalt or concrete per household; up to 30 gallons of construction or demolition debris per household; bicycles and exercise equipment; scrap metal under 40 pounds and less than 2 feet in length; wood waste (unpainted and untreated); tree trimmings less than 6 inches in diameter and less than 6 feet in length.
Items not accepted are: appliances containing CFCs such as air conditioners, refrigerators and freezers; fuel cans or engine parts containing oil, grease or gasoline; large amounts of rock, dirt, asphalt or concrete, large pieces of glass, E-waste such as televisions, computers and microwaves; tires; and household hazardous waste such as compact florescent lights and tubes, oil, paint, liquids, chemicals/pesticides and sharp needles.
