Officers from the Morgan Hill Police Department arrested an adult male Thursday evening after numerous reports of a suspicious person running around downtown and throwing items into the street, at cars and at people, according to the MHPD Facebook page.
After making contact with the disruptive individual, officers determined that he was under the influence of illegal narcotics and was on probation.
Although not cooperative and initially combative towards police, officers took Joseph Teruel, 26, of Hollister, into custody without incident, according to the report.
The subject was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on the drug charge and a probation violation.
“Diners of the local restaurants were very thankful to our officers for their speedy response and enjoyed the rest of their evening in peace,” reads the Facebook post.
