Amay Poria, former Oakwood High School student and golfer, has been having an outstanding freshman season at the Ivy League’s University of Pennsylvania and is ranked fifth as a freshman in the Ivy league and 24th overall.
This past weekend, Penn won the Ivy League Championship to earn an automatic berth into one of the NCAA Division I Regional Golf Championships to be held at one of six locations across the country.
This was Penn’s lowest first place finish and fourth overall championship in its history.Â
Overall, Poria wrapped up the regular season playing in 22 rounds across 10 tournaments out of 11 and twice placed in the Top 5 and three times placed in the Top 20 with a low round of 70.
As a freshman, he finished in first place once, three times in second place, three times in third place and forth place twice among his Penn teammates.
The Regionals will be held May 14-16 and right after his return back to Morgan Hill, he has the US Open Qualifier on the Monday 17 in Fresno.
He has been accepted to play in the 100th Memorial Amateur in Sacramento, one of the most prestigious and top amateur golf events in the country.
He is waiting to hear back from Sahalee and the South Western Amateur Championships.
