Numerous police officers responded to a report of a possible robbery, and ended up arresting a wanted felon at Vineyard Town Center Thursday afternoon, according to authorities.
Morgan Hill police were dispatched to the area of Starbucks, 251 Vineyard Town Center about 1 p.m. April 2 on a report of a fight and robbery, according to MHPD Capt. Shane Palsgrove.
Officers arrived and searched the area for the reported victims and suspect, police said. When officers saw a man who matched the description of the suspect and attempted to contact him, the man began to run away from officers on foot.
Police chased the man across Vineyard Town Center toward Jack In The Box, located on Monterey Road just south of the shopping center, police said. Officers caught up with the man, later identified as Aaron Haygood of Morgan Hill, and arrested him on three felony warrants.
Haygood was not associated with the original call reporting a fight and robbery, and police could not find any parties associated with that call, Palsgrove said.
During the MPHD response, Santa Clara County Sheriff’s deputies responded to provide assistance, Palsgrove said. A total of three MHPD officers, five sheriff’s deputies and a sheriff’s helicopter—on its way back from a previous call—were on the scene at one point.
Anyone with information about this incident can call MHPD at (408) 779-2101.
