A longtime San Jose economic development guru will join the City of Morgan Hill’s Economic Development team starting Jan. 4.
<
John Lang, formerly San Jose’s Chief Economist, was hired by the City of Morgan Hill to support “efforts to enhance the city’s economic vitality and sustainability,” Morgan Hill Economic Development Manager Edith Ramirez said in a press release.
<
He will also help with city’s ongoing minimum wage analysis, Ramirez added. This analysis, expected to be completed in early 2016, will help the city determine if it should raise the minimum wage for local workers.
<
In San Jose most recently, Lang played a role in conducting cost benefit analysis of development projects, assisted with data analytics, led research for the city’s two economic development strategies and helped with revenue forecasts, Ramirez said.
<
Furthermore, Lang managed San Jose’s State of California Enterprise Zone Program, Innovation Hub program, Business Cooperation program and a $1.2 million clean technology career fund, Ramirez added. He also assisted businesses work their way through the development entitlement process and developed partnerships with the San Jose Public Library to support small businesses.

Lang holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Master’s degrees in Economics and Public Administration from San Jose State University.

“We are thrilled to have John join our Morgan Hill family,” Ramirez said. “He is a great addition to the economic development team and to the city.”
