Coyote Creek to host Silicon Valley amateur, tsunami relief tourneys

Coyote Creek Golf Club will host the Inaugural Silicon Valley Amateur golf tournament this weekend, and the Dunham and Watkins Tsunami Relief golf tournament on Friday.

This weekend’s tourney is to be a 36-hole event that will include more than 100 players and feature some of the region’s best amateur and senior amateur golfers. Among the notables:

  • Gilroy resident and 2001 California State Amateur champion Darryl Donovan

  • Former Northern California Golf Association (NCGA) Amateur champion Randy Haag

  • Reigning San Francisco City Senior and NCGA Senior champion Earl Stewart

“The strong field – highlighted by local golfers like Darryl Donovan – and the excellent conditions the players will see this weekend are a wonderful way to start the 2005 tournament season,” says Coyote Creek General Manager, Eric Jacobsen.

The Silicon Valley Amateur is one of roughly a dozen events that make up the Tournament Series of events in Northern California that are affiliated with amateurgolf.com.

Players interested in signing up for the tournament should visit www.amateurgolf.com or call Jennifer Alexander at 415.567.6070.

For more information about Coyote Creek or to book tee times or tournaments, please visit www.coyotecreekgolf.com or call 408.463.1400.

Meanwhile, Friday’s fundraiser golf tourney features a $10,000 hole-in-one grand prize, with an additional $10,000 going to the Red Cross to help aid Asian tsunami victims.

The tourney costs $200 per person, which includes greens fees, shared cart with bottled water, range balls, tournament services, box lunch, beer, and dinner. Half of all proceeds go directly to the Red Cross Tsunami Relief Fund.

There will be a 10:30am check in time and an 11:30am shotgun tee-off on the tournament course.

There will also be several other tourney prizes available.
