Grand theft: A Morgan Hill resident reported she was approached while in the Target in Cochrane Plaza shopping center by two suspects who told her they had an accident on the highway and needed money. The suspects then told her, she said, that they had rubies and diamonds which they would give her if she gave them $20,000. She told the suspects she did not have that much money, and took one of the suspects to her home, where she gave them pots and pans, her computer and household appliances instead. When she drove the suspect back to Target to get the promised diamond, the suspect fled and the other suspect could not be found. The report was taken at 5:56pm.

Threats: A resident of the Del Monte Village Townhomes reported his ex-father-in-law came to his residence and threatened to hurt him. The report was taken at 6:45pm.

October 28

Child abuse: A boy reported his mother hits him once a week and forces him to read or do homework for five hours per night. The report was taken at 6:04am.

Vandalism: A resident of Bluebonnet Way reported the tires of his Ford Taurus were slashed sometime during the day. The report was taken at 4:24pm.

Vandalism: A resident of San Pedro Avenue reported their sliding glass door was shattered by a fireworks rocket. The report was taken at 4:32pm.

October 29

Vandalism: A resident of the 17400 block of Walnut Grove Drive reported someone broke a window of their van. The report was taken at 9:23am.

Identity theft: A resident of Kennebec Court reported a Sears and a Target charge account were opened on Oct. 23 using their information. The report was taken at 1:53pm.

Auto burglary: A resident of the 18000 block of Shadowbrook Way reported someone took the vehicle registration and insurance information from the glove box of the unlocked vehicle. The report was taken at 2:13pm.

Auto burglary: A resident of Del Monte Circle reported the registrations, a spare key and the manual for a Chevy Cavalier were stolen from the unlocked vehicle. The report was taken at 4:14pm.

Burglary: A resident of Bluebonnet Way reported someone broke into the residence through a window and stole a video game console. The suspects may have left through the garage, as the garage was found open. The report was taken at 6:37pm.

Burglary: Someone broke into the Fresh Choice corporate office on Cochrane Circle, possibly through a front window, which was shattered. No one was found on the premises, though police responded to an alarm. It was not clear at the time if anything was taken from the offices. The report was taken at 8:59pm.

October 30

Auto burglary: A resident of Glen Canyon Court reported her purse was stolen from her unlocked vehicle. The report was taken at 10:49am.

Petty theft: Radio Shack in the Tennant Station shopping center reported a 13- or 14-year-old male stole a 25ft phone cable from the store. Police were given the license plate number of the car the suspect left in. The report was taken at 4pm.
